Update: Husband and wife who drilled a nail in their 10-year-old maid 's head remanded in jail

The Magistrate court in Enugu on Monday, July 6, remanded a couple, Mr. Jude Ozougwu, and his wife, Ifeoma in prison for allegedly brutalizing their 10-year-old maid, Nneoma Nnadi. The couple made news over the weekend after photos of the battered body of Nneoma surfaced online. The state police command today arraigned the couple before Chief Magistrate Agu of Enugu North Court 1 sitting in the Enugu North Magistrate District on three-count charge bothering on attempted murder. The charge marked No MEN/298c/2020 is between the Commissioner of Police vis Mr Jude Ozougwu ‘m’ age 40 years and Ifeoma Ozougwu ‘f’ age 24 years. At the hearing of the case, the Police Prosecutor, CSP Paschal Nwachukwu, argued that the magistrate court lacked the jurisdiction to hear such a case. Brazil's health regulator Anvisa allows the Chinese Coronavirus vaccine to be tested

On Friday, Brazilian health regulator Anvisa approved clinical trials of a potential coronavirus vaccine developed by Sinovac in China, according to an official publication in the gazette. The report-first announced on June 11-is led by Instituto Butantan, a state-funded research center in Sao Paulo. The agreement with Sinovac includes not only trials but technology transfer to produce the potential vaccine locally. On June 29, Sao Paulo state Governor Joao Doria said 9,000 volunteers have already been registered to test the vaccine against COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Trials will be conducted by 12 research centers in six Brazilian states: Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Brasilia, Rio Grande do Sul and Parana, according to Doria. Miss. Ezenwa Nkechi, a 20-year-old rape victim who hails from Umuna Ubommiri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, was allegedly raped some months ago while hawking banana on the streets. Fortunately Miss. Nkechi was delivered of a set of triplets at separate hospitals in Imo State, all male. The story also has it that Miss Nkechi was aided by a member of her church as she was initially admitted at a Health Center in her community on June 14, 2020, where she was delivered of one of the triplets, and could not continue the delivery. She was swiftly moved to another hospital in Owerri, the State capital, where she completed the delivery by caesarian section. The young mother has employed various media to appeal for financial support from good spirited individuals to help her offset her medical bill in the region of N300, 000 and to take care of the babies and herself.
