The viral singer from Imo, will be adopted by Governor Hope Uzodimma

A video has gone viral about a boy from imo State whose voice has attracted attention from many.

Femi fani-Kayode, the former Aviation minister saw the video and has promised to gift the boy #250k and also promised to take care of the boys education.

The tweet reads!


The governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma has contacted the boys parents and has announced that he wants to adopt him as his son.


"In celebration of Fathers Day  I have directed that the little 9 year old Master Joseph Oluomachi Opara, the viral Imo State-born singer be contacted as I announce my intentions to adopt him as my own child.


"I also undertake, personally, to sponsor him from primary school level (his current educational level) to Catholic priesthood (his career choice).



"Master Opara made waves in the internet at the weekend with videos of his unique rendition of some catholic hymns/songs which marked him out as a specially talented kid singer. This attracted instant applause  and commendations from the public.


"I believe in harnessing skills and talents and grooming them to be of better use to mankind and to this end, I directed that the family, through the Imo State commissioner for information, Hon. Declan Emelumba be informed of my intention to adopt their son as my own child.


"I also undertake to personally take over the full responsibility of his training until he becomes a Reverend Father, which he said is his life ambition.

"It my expectation and prayer that little Oluoma attains his full potentials in God's time.

Elsa Joubert, The Iconic SA author dies of COVID19 aged 97

The 97-year-old writer died on Sunday in Cape Town due to Covid-19 related causes. Elsa's son, Nico Steytler, confirmed that his mother died in Mediclinic Cape Town due to the virus. Elsa Joubert's well-known book Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena (The Long Journey of Poppie Nongena) was translated into 13 languages and most recently turned into an award-winning film directed by Christian Olwagen and starring Clementine Mosimane. In May, Elsa wrote an open letter published on Netwerk24 pleading to be able to see her relatives as she was in the "last months and weeks" of her life. "I'm suffering. Telephone calls, and videos, and Skype, and much more help, but it's not enough. It's not the same," she wrote in the letter addressed to her house doctor Hans Woermann. Angry youths burn Ebonyi commissioner’s house, banish husband

Irate youths of  Elugwu Ettam Community in Okpuitumo Ikwo Local government area of Ebonyi state at the weekend set ablaze the country home of Celestine Okah. Okah is the husband of Ebonyi Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Wendy Uchechi Okah. According to a source, the incident happened on Saturday. The source said Okah was accused of involvement in some crimes in the community, which he vehemently denied. His denials did not stop his summoning by the community’s village head who ordered him to swear an oath to prove his innocence in keeping with the customs and traditions of the community. But, Okah, it was gathered, refused to swear to the oath. He instead resorted to calling the attention of the Police.
