Akon Announces $6 Billion Construction Contract for Akon City in Senegal

The biggest news regarding the project is the announcement of U.S.-based engineering and consulting firm KE International’s $6 billion USD contract to build the city.

The President of Senegal, Macky Sall, plans for the city to act as a special tax zone with full infrastructure like roads, a Hamptons Hospital campus, Hamptons Mall, residences, hotels, police, schools, waste facilities, and a solar power plant.

Partners include US-based Kenyan entrepreneur and Investor, Julius Mwale, who ha also worked with KE International on his $2 billion USD Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) project. Currently 85-percent complete, MMTC is expected to serve over 35,000 community members with its supermarket, hospital, mall, golf course, and is 100% powered by renewable energy.



Akon aims for Akon City to be LEED-certified (Leader in Energy and Environmental Design) while attracting foreign investment from its tax incentives. Akon City, located less than and hour south of Dakar’s international airport, will also run exclusively on AKOIN — Akon’s cryptocurrency. For those excited to visit the celebrity/artist’s very-own city, you can expect Akon City to be complete in the year 2030.

Irate youths of  Elugwu Ettam Community in Okpuitumo Ikwo Local government area of Ebonyi state at the weekend set ablaze the country home of Celestine Okah. Okah is the husband of Ebonyi Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Wendy Uchechi Okah. According to a source, the incident happened on Saturday. The source said Okah was accused of involvement in some crimes in the community, which he vehemently denied. His denials did not stop his summoning by the community’s village head who ordered him to swear an oath to prove his innocence in keeping with the customs and traditions of the community. Uk coronavirus deaths toll rise to 43,730, as more 155 Deaths were recorded

The death toll for coronavirus in the UK has risen by 155, raising the death rate to 43,730. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said 133,467 tests had been dispatched, with 689 positive tests confirmed on June 30 in the 24 hours until 9 am. In comparison, 171 people had died last Tuesday, and 874 people had tested positive for coronavirus. Overall, a total of 9,426,631 tests have been carried out and 312,654 cases have been confirmed positive. The figure for the number of people tested has been “temporarily paused to ensure consistent reporting” across all methods of testing. The number of people tested has not been given for several weeks. One person may be tested several times. It comes as no excess deaths were registered in England and Wales over a week for the first time since before the coronavirus lockdown was imposed, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
