Muhammed Buhari has ordered a major military operation against terrorists in Niger.

 President Muhammadu Buhari has launched a major military operation in Niger State, which has been subjected to repeated attacks on its communities by Boko Haram terrorists fleeing conflict zones in the country's northwest and northeast.


In a recent directive to the Defence Headquarters, the President directed the military to respond forcefully to cases of killings and kidnappings in the state, as well as to carry out strategic objectives through the use of force.


In his message to the government and people of Niger State, President Buhari said: “I would like to express sincere sympathies to the government and people of the State following recent security incidents.”



The President reiterated that security is a responsibility of every member of the community and only through solidarity and cooperation with law enforcement agencies can we defeat the problems finally.


“The Federal Government is willing to strengthen support and cooperation with all the states. I believe that with the full cooperation of the citizens, we will surely overcome this problem,” said the President.

  A village chief and a 16-year-old boy were killed in a recent wave of abductions in the state's Madagali Local Government Area, according to the Adamawa State Police Command.    Wednesday, an Indonesian court sentenced an Al-Qaeda-linked Islamist fighter to 15 years in prison for his role in the 2002 Bali bombings, which killed more than 200 people. The blasts, which came just over a year after the 9/11 attacks on the United States, ripped through two bars packed with foreign tourists, and remain the deadliest militant assault in Indonesia's history. Zulkarnaen, a high-ranking member of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) militant group, was arrested in December 2020 after spending nearly 18 years at large. He was on trial for the Bali bombings, as well as several other attacks carried out by the special unit under his command. He "is guilty of committing terrorism and is sentenced to 15 years behind bars", said the presiding judge at East Jakarta District Court.
