Delta State discharges 10 coronavirus patients, reports 53 new cases

The Delta State Governemnt has announced that the state has recorded 53 new cases of COVID19, while also disclosing that 10 patients who have fully recovered from the virus has been discharged.

The state also regrettably announce 2 deaths.


Currently the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state is 965, active cases 741, discharged 200, while total fatalities is 24.

Adamawa : gunmen assassinate a local chief and a 16-year-old child.

  A village chief and a 16-year-old boy were killed in a recent wave of abductions in the state's Madagali Local Government Area, according to the Adamawa State Police Command. The teenager, known as Ijarshu Markus, was abducted along with his mother and brother from their home in Maiwandu village last week, according to reports. The mother and the other boy were rescued by local vigilantes, but Markus was taken by the shooters. The teen's body was discovered three days later in the bush, with two stab wounds to his chest and heart. This was fewer than 14 days after Ahmadu Sikari, the village chief (Lawan) of Mayo-Wandu in the Duhu District of Madagali, was shot twice in his  residence at night when the attempt to kidnap him went awry.   The District Head of Duhu, Mustapha Sanusi, told Daily Trust that the death of the village head and that of Ijarshu had caused panic among residents, calling on the government to increase security in the area.   He believed that some...

In the aftermath of the Bali bombings in 2002, an Indonesian terrorist was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

   Wednesday, an Indonesian court sentenced an Al-Qaeda-linked Islamist fighter to 15 years in prison for his role in the 2002 Bali bombings, which killed more than 200 people. The blasts, which came just over a year after the 9/11 attacks on the United States, ripped through two bars packed with foreign tourists, and remain the deadliest militant assault in Indonesia's history. Zulkarnaen, a high-ranking member of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) militant group, was arrested in December 2020 after spending nearly 18 years at large. He was on trial for the Bali bombings, as well as several other attacks carried out by the special unit under his command. He "is guilty of committing terrorism and is sentenced to 15 years behind bars", said the presiding judge at East Jakarta District Court.
