Guinea Bissau captain vows: "We will rather die than lose to the Super Eagles."

Jonas Azevedo Mendes, the captain of Guinea Bissau's national team, has declared that they would rather 'die' than lose today's encounter against the Super Eagles.

Mendes, the team's first-choice goalkeeper, stated that they will be out in force to defeat the Super Eagles.

Asked if there was any particular player in the Eagles team they were targeting, Mendes said, “we know Nigeria is a good team. It will be a mistake to target any particular player. We are facing all of them with equal attention,” he said.

Raised in Portugal, the goalkeeper has spent most of his playing career in the third tier of Portuguese football.
