Iwobi, Musa, and Ebuehi are poised to make their AFCON202 debuts today against Guinea-Bissau.

Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, and Tyronne Ebuehi of the Super Eagles are ready to make their first appearance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.


When the Eagles face Guinea-Bissau in their final Group D match on Wednesday, January 19, the stars will start.


Fatih Karagumruk forward, Musa is expected to lead the Eagles out in what will be their 96th match in the history of the competition. The three-time African champions have recorded 52 wins drawn 22 and lost 21.


Iwobi and Ebuehi are expected to replace Samuel Chukwueze and Ola Aina in the starting line-up for the game against the Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau.


Assistant captain William Ekong, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, and striker Kelechi Iheanacho are likely to keep their places in the starting XI.


Speaking ahead of his team’s final group fixture, interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, said, “Yes it is always good to qualify for the next round before your last game. We have done that with style.

“So, expect few changes against Guinea-Bissau because every player here has come to play and I have always told them that their time will come. Don’t expect a wholesale change, but there will be one or two.”


Other players expected to play a part in the encounter are Kelechi Nwakali, Francis Uzoho, and Peter Olayinka.


Semi Ajayi, Frank Onyeka, Jamilu Collins, Alex Iwobi, and Chidera Ejuke will also be involved in the game against Guinea Bissau

Elsa Joubert, The Iconic SA author dies of COVID19 aged 97

The 97-year-old writer died on Sunday in Cape Town due to Covid-19 related causes. Elsa's son, Nico Steytler, confirmed that his mother died in Mediclinic Cape Town due to the virus. Elsa Joubert's well-known book Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena (The Long Journey of Poppie Nongena) was translated into 13 languages and most recently turned into an award-winning film directed by Christian Olwagen and starring Clementine Mosimane. In May, Elsa wrote an open letter published on Netwerk24 pleading to be able to see her relatives as she was in the "last months and weeks" of her life. "I'm suffering. Telephone calls, and videos, and Skype, and much more help, but it's not enough. It's not the same," she wrote in the letter addressed to her house doctor Hans Woermann. Angry youths burn Ebonyi commissioner’s house, banish husband

Irate youths of  Elugwu Ettam Community in Okpuitumo Ikwo Local government area of Ebonyi state at the weekend set ablaze the country home of Celestine Okah. Okah is the husband of Ebonyi Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Wendy Uchechi Okah. According to a source, the incident happened on Saturday. The source said Okah was accused of involvement in some crimes in the community, which he vehemently denied. His denials did not stop his summoning by the community’s village head who ordered him to swear an oath to prove his innocence in keeping with the customs and traditions of the community.
